About this place

A short loop from the campsite gate up the wooded gorge of the Afon Clywedog (Llwybr Clywedog), with falls and pools the whole way and the remains of an old woollen mill and iron furnace beside the path. Up one bank and back down the other. The gorge is protected (an SSSI) for its woodland, otters, dormice and bats. Leave the van on the pitch: walking in from Dolgellau means busy roads with no pavement.

Good to know

Terrain
Well-made gravel paths up the gorge with a few roots and short climbs, plus some quiet lane. Slippery after rain, with steep drops at the ravine edges, so keep dogs and children close.
Parking
Starts at Torrent Walk Campsite. Without a pitch, there's a small lay-by on the B4416 at the Brithdir end.
